Week 36
Daisy on a Hill
The theme this week was "analog". So, I dusted off my old 4 track cassette recorder to record the guitars and vocals. In the process, I ended up finding an old tape from like 30 years ago with an awful song called "Daisy on a Hill". So, this is my attempt to make something of that song that my young self would have liked. Changed some words. Wrote a new chord progression and melody. You can even hear a few bits of my high school self in there as backing vocals (“faaaaar awaaaay…”). Song still sucks, but the process made me happy. :)
I had actually worked on a completely different idea for several days and ditched it earlier today - so this one had to come out fast. Blargh!
DAISY ON A HILL
Daisy on a hill so far away
Daisy on a hill so far away
Lazy on a hill
I'll lie here until
The sunlight fades
I'll think about every place
I’d rather lay with Daisy
So far away
Daisy on a hill there in my mind
Daisy on a hill there like a shrine
Lazy on a hill
I'll lie here until
Daisy’s mine
Talkin’ about a long time
And each night I sit
Alone in my bed
I want to be angry
I want to be sad
I want to be hungry
I want to be led
I want to keep wanting
I want but instead
Tomorrow will see me smile
At a daisy on a hill so far away
