Week 31
Snow In The Summertime
The subreddit theme this week was “Summer / Winter”.
This week I am so stoked to have real drums played by Mathew Bainton! We were all set up for recording the new Protest Kids record and I asked him to lay down a few tracks of drums for this song. It sounded *nothing* like this when he recorded his parts.
The lyrics are sort of a fever dream stream-of-consciousness thing about calamity-induced depression. Or something. It's all very weird and I don't know what to think yet.
SNOW IN THE SUMMERTIME
The sun is mild
The forest wild
The fires are domesticated
The stars are lost
The sky exhausted
And I’m isolated from
All of the reasons I came
Disclaimer: I’m lame
Tell me that story again
About snow in the summer
The river deserts
The valley inverts
The view from my bedroom window
Come ring my bell
Peek into my well-lit
But empty living room
I made a list why I stay
1st reason: I’m lame
Tell me that story again
About swimming in the winter
